Bayfront Youth & Family Services is a quality provider of behavioral and mental health treatment services for children, adolescents, and their caregivers. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive support system that promotes safe and nurturing environments. Support the family, support the child.
Fostering community connection for all.
All children and adolescents, as well as their caregivers:
In 1999, a group of social workers and therapists based in the City of Long Beach took an interest to develop their own non-profit with the focus of providing comprehensive behavioral treatment programs for adolescents. Under the name H.V. Group Home, the program purpose was to provide an intensively structured residential facility for those adolescents aged 11 to 18 who had not been able to be treated in existing community care facilities within Los Angeles County.
In 2001 Maryam Ribadu (current President/CEO) was promoted from Clinical Assistant to Administrator. While focusing on the completion of her MBA she was able to lead a team of dedicated employees with various backgrounds to help achieve the following goals and objectives:
In May 2006 H.V. Group Home contracted with L.A. County to provide Wraparound Services to those adolescents in Los Angeles County Service Planning Area (SPA) 8, encompassing Long Beach/South Bay. Since then our Outpatient Program, implemented by Cynthia Sarmiento, a licensed marriage and family therapist, has become a proven leader and exemplary provider of Outpatient Services.
In April 2009 H.V. Group Home changed its name to Bayfront Youth & Family Services and adapted a motto that best communicates our organization’s mission – “Changing lives is what we do!”
As of October 2015, Bayfront Youth and Family Services has undergone programmatic restructuring to meet the current needs of the county with emphasis on outpatient, in-home and school-based care. Newly adapted program models have included foster family and adoption services for kids in need of a placement or forever home, as well as a transitional housing program for young adults (18+) who are in need of a step-down program from residential care to help them in their educational/vocational goals.
The overall goal in outpatient expansion is to develop value added programming utilizing a qualified and diverse workforce that is repeatable in servicing the needs of children and families across Los Angeles County and California.
As a nonprofit organization, Bayfront Youth & Family Services relies on ongoing support from government funding and our generous donors in order to continue providing quality behavioral and mental health services. Our annual reports provide a snapshot of how the organization served the community over the past year, providing commentary from the organization’s leadership, data on our fiscal standing, information regarding services offered, and more.
We hope you’ll take a few moments to learn more about how we continue to provide our families with exciting and innovative programming. As always, we thank you greatly for your continued support.
